Chabot Lake Hike, East Bay

This event is colisted with Unity Singles. Meet leaders on the deck at the Boathouse inside Lake Chabot Park. Join us for easy hiking on low rolling trails. We are not hiking completely around the lake. We will hike on east side to bridge, and back to Boathouse, near the picnic tables, for a “Bring-Your-Own-Picnic-Lunch”. After lunch, there may be additional hiking for determined hikers, on the west side of Lake to dam, and back to start at Boathouse. We will enjoy views of beautiful lake scenery through shaded and sunny terrain, on a 3-4 hour tentative schedule.
Directions to trailhead: From Hwy 580, take the Fairmont Dr. exit. Go east, towards the hills, about 2 miles. Look for the Lake Chabot Marina sign on your left, just after Fairmont Dr. becomes Lake Chabot Road. Parking on the street is free. There is paid parking inside the park in parking lot. Leashed dogs are welcome with a $2 park fee.

Butano State Park Hike, Peninsula

11:15 a.m. Sharp - trailhead
Join us for an approximately 7 mile hike round trip hike on the Jackson Flats trail, through a lush redwood forest in Butano State Park. It lies in a secluded redwood-filled canyon with a flowing creek, just south of the town of Pescadero on the Pacific Coast. Bring layered clothing, liquids and lunch. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at Rockridge BART (near escalators) for a carpool or at 11:15 a.m. at the entrance booth to Butano State Park. Optional dinner afterwards at a restaurant in or near Half Moon Bay. If you are carpooling from Rockridge BART and wish to ride with the leader, please contact Isaac to reserve a space in his car since there may not be more than one driver, and confirm that you wish to participate in the dinner stop following the hike. Be prepared to make a contribution to any driver to cover gas, bridge tolls,?and the park entrance fee ($10.per car or $9 per car for seniors age 62 at the entrance kiosk). Please allow about an hour and 20 minutes for the drive from Rockridge BART to the trailhead, or 10-20 minutes less if you are driving from San Francisco.
Directions to Trailhead: From San Francisco, take Hwy 280 south to Hwy 92.?Take Hwy 92 west to Half Moon Bay and turn left onto Hwy 1. After going 15 miles south on Hwy 1, turn left onto Pescadero Rd for 2.6 miles, turn right (south) on Cloverdale Rd. (Cloverdale is the next intersection on the right after you pass the blinking red light in the town of Pescadero) and then go south 5 miles to the park entrance on the left (east). Parking spaces are available to the left of the entrance Kiosk and also about a one minute drive down the road in front of rest rooms which are on the right side of road.
Picnic/BBQ and Theater in Orinda, East Bay

Outdoor theater on a summer evening! Join hikers and friends at a small intimate theater near Orinda Civic Park to watch Send Me No Flowers by Norman Barasch and Carroll Moore. It is a treat to see a show in a small intimate theater built in to the side of a hill at Orinda Community Park on a summer evening. The theater provides non-reserved bench seating. You may want to bring a cushion to sit on. Attire - jeans and a jacket or blanket in case the fog rolls in. Bring food to BBQ and a dish to share. Meet at Orinda Civic Park, at 26 Orinda Way. Plot of the play: When he experiences chest pains, hopeless hypochondriac. George checks with his doctor and overhears his doctor discussing the diagnosis of a terminally ill patient with an associate. Assuming he is the one scheduled to die, he asks his friend Arnold to help him find a new husband for his wife Judy so he'll know she won't be alone once he's gone. Meanwhile, Judy mistakes her husband's machinations for an attempt to cover up an extramarital affair.
